What it does?
Currently, the windmill’s performance is affected by many factors such as dust accumulation on the wind blade, cracks on the edges and surface of the wind blade and lightning strikes. These factors reduce the efficiency of the windmill’s power output by up to 20%. Moreover, the repairing of blades is done using cranes which requires a high cost for execution. Overall, it is necessary to tackle these problems that affect the efficiency of a windmill and the ever-increasing maintenance cost. Our proposed solution is a semi-automated robotic system designed for cleaning accumulated particulate on the blade surface and repairing significant surface damages without the blades' removal from the central hub to prevent effective efficiency losses and scan for structural and surface damages for detailed inspection of the blade structure.
